There are times in our lives when we have personal issues or a life crisis. Counselling is a supportive relationship Where two people come together to focus on and explore that issue or crisis. My role is to support you to explore, understand, resolve or come to terms with the issue in a way that works for you.

Kia ora, my name is Chris Mangion and I am offering counselling services at the Otautau Connect Centre. The way I work is informed by my training in Person Centred practice, Whanau Ora and Solution Focused approach. From this platform I offer a safe, non-judgmental place to journey alongside people who are distressed or concerned by life’s events. I am a Intern Counsellor in my second year of studies towards my Counselling degree at Bethlehem Tertiary Institute. I have qualifications in Whanau Ora and have training in Solution Focussed approach. My hope is that our sessions together encourages and supports you in making positive changes.

How we work:

At our initial meeting we discuss your needs and expectations for counselling support services to determine if I can support you, and if we are happy to continue working together.

What to Expect: each session will be a up to of 1 hour long. The fee will be discussed and confirmed prior to our sessions. You may be eligible for discount depending on individual circumstances and criteria. We can talk about anything that you choose too during these sessions, you may see me taking notes, (adhering to NZCCA Code of Ethics). This is to ensure that I am understanding you correctly and reflection for any follow up sessions; providing continuity between your visits.

Confidentiality: Counselling is a confidential service. Anything you discuss with me remains confidential. If there are serious concerns about your safety, or someone else's safety we must extend the limits of this confidentiality. Please if you have further questions on this please ask me. Your privacy is of the utmost importance to me, and while notes will be taken all sessions are confidential between you and myself.

Supervision: To ensure your safety, the counselling provided is monitored by external clinical supervision. This means someone with more experience checks in with me. This is normal practice in the counselling profession for all Counsellors. Counsellors receive supervision of their work so you may receive the best possible service and care. I will talk through my work with my Supervisor your privacy and confidentiality will be of the highest importance. Supervisors keep these conversations confidential. I may also discuss aspects of my work with the Team Leader in the same context as Supervision.

Please feel free to discuss any queries or concerns you have with me.
